\INVESTIGATION & BOOK\ Who Makes the Rent?

In Fall 2009, CUP Teaching Artist Marisa Jahn and 11 teens from the College Now program at Brooklyn College investigated how decisions in New York City about rent-stabilized housing are made by the Rent Guidelines Board (RGB). Every year, the RGB gets together to decide how much the rent should change for the 1 million people living in rent-regulated units in New York City.

The group interviewed people involved as real estate lobbyists, policy makers, tenant advocates, and more.
The outcome? An informative and playful book designed for advocates to give to their constituents that raises questions about the system.
